All safety courses have been suspended for the immediate future. As soon as new classes are approved, they will be posted here, so please check back again for any updates. Classes are available online at www.michigan.gov/dnr.

ORV Safety Classes are offered by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office at no charge.

This is a six-hour Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Safety Class mandated by the State for all persons under the age of 16 years (need to be at least 10 years of age) in order to ride on both public and private property.

Classes will be held at the Sheriff's Administration building, 1200 N Telegraph Rd, Bldg 38 East in Pontiac, MI, and there is no limit to class size for either of the listed classes. To reserve a place in a ORV Safety Class, please call 248-858-7831.

There is no charge for the ORV Safety Class given at the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

  • Please note that scheduling is done on Thursdays and Fridays, if you leave a voicemail message it will be returned on one of these days in the order it was received.
  • To check for classes given by other agencies you can check the DNR website.
