Logistics Technician 

From the automotive industry to Amazon, logistics professionals are more critical than ever, with supply chains and fulfillment companies delivering goods across the world in record volumes.
Job opportunities in this field are booming, with a projected growth of four percent annual across the country through 2029, including Metro Detroit.

Oakland County Michigan Works!, in partnership with Oakland Community College and PepsiCo, are offering a certified logistics technician training program, free to eligible candidates.

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

A certified nursing aide (CNA), also known as a certified nursing assistant, helps patients with daily activities that may be difficult for them due to disease, injury or disability. This can include bathing and other hygiene tasks, getting dressed, eating, taking medication on time and helping patients move around safely.  

As a CNA, you’ll work under a nurse’s supervision and may assist with other clinical tasks such as taking a patient’s blood pressure, heart rate and other vital signs. Typical work environments can include hospitals, nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, adult daycare centers and rehabilitation centers.
While a certified nurse aide is often considered an entry-level position, it can also serve as a good foundation if you’re looking to transition into nursing or other healthcare positions.   

  • Average entry-level wage range:  $14 - 18 per hour

Computer Support Technician 

Jobs in the Information Technology field are in high-demand. Training for the Computer Support Technician program will include classes related to CompTIA and soft skills classes to prepare you for a job in the technology industry. Individuals with CompTIA certifications typically can start their career as a helpdesk technician, IT technician, helpdesk analyst and similar roles.

Sterile Processing Technician

With an increased focus on patient safety in healthcare, sterile processing technicians are in high demand. As one of these technicians, you’ll decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package and sterilize reusable surgical instruments or devices in a healthcare facility, so that they can be redistributed and reused safely on additional patients. This work is usually centralized in a special department of the medical facility.

  • Oakland County Michigan Works! partners with area community colleges, universities, and proprietary schools to offer tuition assistance through Individual Training Accounts (ITAs).
