Cross Connection
The Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner's (WRC) Cross Connection Control Program (CCCP) is designed to protect drinking water. It does that by preventing contaminants from entering the public water supply system through a reversal of flow (backpressure or back-siphonage).
The CCCP is run in accordance with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) and the State of Michigan Public Act 399, 1976 Rule #325.11401. Our program is approved by EGLE and has been in effect in Oakland County since 1976. The onset of our program focused on commercial and industrial facilities and was expanded in 2002 to include residential customers. This update occurred in response to changes in State rules and regulations in an effort to better protect our potable (drinking) water systems from pollution or contamination.
