Oakland County provides indigent defense services using a "hybrid" model, where a percentage of cases are assigned to attorneys in private practice, and a percentage of cases are assigned to a Public Defender's Office staffed with Oakland County employees.

The Chief Public Defender is Paulette Loftin, and you may contact the office at: publicdefender@oakgov.com

Please note - the Public Defender's Office receives all of its case assignments from the Indigent Defense Services Office. The Public Defender's Office will not have the ability to assist clients on cases that are not assigned to it.
