If you are already using ArcGIS Online in your community, you can certainly continue to do so. However, you also have other options, such as potentially moving all of your content to Oakland County's AGO Org, or adding named users in the County's Org that can be invited back into groups in your own Org. The benefit of having users in the County's Org is that you are not paying for named AGO users.

One advantage of being fully in the County's Org is that you will have easy access to all of the County's existing GIS data such as parcels and roads. We are also creating ready-to-use applications for every community, and easy to populate templates that will help you start gathering your own GIS data to share either internally or publicly (for example, polling locations or garbage collection day maps that can be shared on your websites).

In ArcGIS Online, data storage, analysis, and other activities can consume credits. Each named user is capped to a certain number of credits to prevent anyone from accidentally consuming more credits than they intended. If you or your community believe you will require an especially large number of credits, please contact us to talk through your options.

If you have already signed an IT Services Contract with the AGO Exhibit, then you can request accounts by contacting the Oakland County Service Center at 248-858-8812, servicecenter@oakgov.com or https://sc.oakgov.com. If your community has not yet signed the IT Services Contract, please contact gis@oakgov.com to get the process started.

If you are requesting more than one account, then we ask that you please create a spreadsheet with the users' first name, last name, and email address in separate columns.

An Oakland County IAM account is required for AGO access, so once we receive your request, we will verify which user(s) on your list will need to first create their IAM accounts. IAM accounts are used to access multiple County applications, including CAMS and the Oakland County Service Center. Once the IAM account is created, we will send the users ArcGIS Online invitations.

You first time logging in to ArcGIS Online can be a little overwhelming. To get started:

1. Once you are logged in to the County's AGO, use the Groups link at the top. You should belong to at least one group for your community. We have pre-populated this group with applications that you will hopefully find useful.
2. Ready to try making your own map? Visit Esri's training site. Search for a specific workflow, or review one of their Learning Plans for free training that you can do at your own pace.
3. Have a specific project/task with which you'd like help? Sign up for GIS Office Hours, where we can help you one-on-one in our computer lab.

Our license agreement with Esri only allows for CVTs to be named users in our ArcGIS Online Organization. It does not include any ArcGIS Desktop or Server licensing, nor does it include Business Analyst Online (BAO).

There is no charge for communities to be named users in Oakland County's AGO Org. You also have access to many free training classes on Esri's training site with your AGO login.

Esri's training site has many classes that are free to take once you have your AGO account.

Throughout the year, Oakland County schedules Esri training classes that are held on the Oakland County campus. Those classes will be listed under the Events section on our Enterprise GIS home page.

Oakland County also offers GIS Office Hours to come in and discuss a specific project/task/idea.

Contact the Oakland County Service Center (servicecenter@oakgov.com, 248-858-8812) and request assistance with ArcGIS Online. One of the admins at IT will review your request to ensure that it doesn't contain information that should not be shared (e.g., sensitive utility information).
