The Oakland County Clerks Office (Pontiac Office) is open by appointment or walk-ins. Please schedule an appointment for in-person services. Appointments will take priority over walk-ins. Note: the Troy Office will continue to be by appointment only.
We strongly encourage you to utilize our online or by-mail options. Listed below are a variety of services and how they can be completed. Please read carefully on how to proceed:
- Order Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates – order online, by mail or in-person
- Birth Certificates
- Death Certificates - appointments are also available for funeral homes
- Marriage Certificates
- Apply for Marriage License – in-person only
- Apply to become a Notary Public – in-person only
- Apply for a new Concealed Pistol License – in-person only
- Renew a Concealed Pistol License – renew online through MSP or in-person
- To obtain a new PIN, email us at cpl@oakgov.com and provide a copy of your driver's license showing proof of current address and the last 4 digits of your SSN
- Assumed Name/Co-Partnership – by mail or in-person

Search Marriage & Death Records
This service allows you to search and order marriage and death records that have occurred in Oakland County. There is no fee for this service; fees are only applicable if you order a certificate.
Records Available through Oakland County
- Marriage records may date as far back as 1868
- Death records may date as far back as 1900 and are continuously being updated
Archived records that are not available through this search are available for research in person. You can search for Marriage records dating back to 1827 and Death records dating back to 1867. You may contact our office to obtain more information on how to do this. By law, birth records are not available to the public and may only be obtained by the individual named on the record or their parents.
