The Oakland County Clerk's Office (Pontiac Office) is open by appointment or walk-ins. Please schedule an appointment for in-person services. Appointments will take priority over walk-ins. Note: the Troy Office will continue to be by appointment only.
We strongly encourage you to utilize our online or by-mail options. Listed below are a variety of services and how they can be completed. Please read carefully on how to proceed:
- Order Birth, Death, and Marriage Certificates – order online, by mail or in-person
- Birth Certificates
- Death Certificates - appointments are also available for funeral homes
- Marriage Certificates
- Apply for Marriage License – in-person only
- Apply to become a Notary Public – in-person only
- Apply for a new Concealed Pistol License – in-person only
- Renew a Concealed Pistol License – renew online through MSP or in-person
- To obtain a new PIN, email us at cpl@oakgov.com and provide a copy of your driver's license showing proof of current address and the last 4 digits of your SSN
- Assumed Name/Co-Partnership – by mail or in-person

Overview
The Vital Records Division of the Oakland County Clerk/Register of Deeds office records certificates for births, deaths and marriages that occurred in Oakland County, and provides qualified applicants with certified copies. In addition, Vital Records files and issues marriage licenses, notary public applications and concealed pistol licenses. Assumed names and co-partnerships are also recorded with the Vital Records Division and may be searched online.
