The East Annex is a dorm-like setting used to house a maximum of 398 inmates classified as minimum-medium and low-medium (worker inmates). The East Annex is located just behind, and to the east, of the Oakland County Jail in Pontiac, MI.

The worker inmates assigned to the East Annex are required to clean the facility, provide meal service, perform laundry duties, and other miscellaneous jobs that are necessary for efficient operations. Additionally, there are worker inmates assigned to Oakland County Pet Adoption Center, Central Garage, laundry, the Parks Division, and other miscellaneous work details at the discretion of East Annex personnel.

Work project supervisors out of the East Annex supervise thousands of hours of community service work details performed by worker inmates. This is an excellent way for incarcerated individuals to give back to the community while serving their sentence. Worker inmate details have included service hours for the March of Dimes, the Sheriff's Re-CYCLE for Kids program, the Lighthouse of Oakland County, and the Sheriff's annual Coats for the Cold Coat Drive.
