Undersheriff Curtis D. Childs was promoted to his current position in January, 2022. As Undersheriff, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff's Office, acts as the Sheriff's Chief Deputy and aids in the oversight of the $165 million annual budget, while managing over 1400 employees. His duties include labor contracts and negotiations, new hire approvals, disciplinary actions and lawsuits. He also serves as Public Information Officer and Chief Advisor to Sheriff Michael Bouchard. Prior to his current appointment, Undersheriff Childs was the Major Commander of the Corrections & Court Services Division of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, responsible for overseeing operations at the Main Jail/Annex Facility, East Annex Facility and Court Services.
Undersheriff Childs was hired by the Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy in 1992. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1998, Lieutenant in 2001, Captain in 2013, Major in 2020, and his current rank of Undersheriff in 2022.
Undersheriff Childs has previously been Commander of the Cell Extraction Team, a member of SWAT, a member of the Sheriff’s Honor Guard and has worked in all areas of Corrections, as well as at the Lyon Twp. and Commerce Twp. Substations. He has also served as a Lieutenant in the Corrective Services Satellite Division and the Emergency Response and Preparedness Division.
He received an Associates' Degree from Oakland Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration/Finance from Columbia Southern University. Additionally, he attended the Northwestern University Center for Public Safety Police Staff and Command Training in 2005. Undersheriff Childs was honored as Command Officer of the Year in 2010.
Undersheriff Childs is a member of the Michigan Sheriff's Association, the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police and the Southeastern Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.
Major Christopher Wundrach oversees Law Enforcement Services for the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Major Wundrach was hired by the Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy in 1991. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2001, Lieutenant in 2007, Captain in 2013, and his current position of Major in 2020. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the Sheriff’s Operations Center, Homeland Security, Training Unit, Civil Unit, and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).
Major Wundrach has previously served as Deputy Commander of Patrol Services and worked in many areas of the Sheriff’s Office including the Special Investigations Unit, Road Patrol, Corrections and Parks Units, and the Emergency Response and Preparedness Unit. He was the commander of SWAT from 2013 to 2020, and currently is a representative of the Sheriff’s Office to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, Michigan Intelligence Operations Center, Department of Homeland Security, and the Major County Sheriffs’ Association Intel Commanders.
He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University in 1991. Major Wundrach has received many awards including a Commendation Certificate, two Unit Citations, two Professional Excellence Citations, two Sheriff’s Distinguished Unit Citations, and a Meritorious Service Citation.
Major Larry Perry is the Commander of the Corrections and Court Services Divisions of the Sheriff's Office. Major Perry was hired by the Sheriff's Office as a Deputy in 1992. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2001, Lieutenant in 2007, Captain in 2020 and to his current position of Major in 2022. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the Sheriff's Court Services Division, the Corrections Main and Annex Divisions, and the Satellite East Annex Division.
Major Perry has held various positions over the course of his career. He most recently served as the Commander of the Emergency Response and Preparedness Division, and was responsible for overseeing the Sheriff's Department of Homeland Security, Training Unit, Technology Unit, Civil Unit, and the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT). He also served as a Substation Commander for the contracted areas of Oxford and Independence Townships (Patrol Services Division) and as a drill sergeant for the former Sheriff's Regimented Inmate Discipline Program (Boot Camp). Other areas of service include the Satellite/Court Services Division, Corrections Division, and Uniformed Patrol. He is currently a representative of the Sheriff's Office to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, Michigan Intelligence Operations Center and Department of Homeland Security.
He attended Western Michigan University and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Class #259. Major Perry has received numerous awards and citations, including: The National Medal of Merit, Life Saving Award, American Legion Auburn Hills Post Deputy of the Year, Meritorious Service Citations, Professional Excellence Citations, and Distinguished Unit Citations.
Major Andre Ewing is the commander of the Sheriff's Office Pontiac substation. Major Ewing was hired by the Sheriff's Office in 1987. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1999, to Lieutenant in 2012, Captain in 2018 and then promoted to Major in 2023. In his current role, Major Ewing is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Pontiac substation. He has previously worked in Corrections, Road Patrol, Narcotics Enforcement and the Traffic Unit.
Major Ewing received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1984 from Louisiana Tech University, where he was a member of the Men's Varsity Basketball Team. He has been awarded citations for Community Service and Professional Excellence. In addition, he has received a Community Service Award from the World Egyptian Rite Masons.
Major Ewing was born and raised in the city of Pontiac, where he is widely remembered for his basketball prowess while a student at Pontiac Northern High School.
Captain Todd Hill is the Commander of the Emergency Response and Preparedness Division. Captain Hill was hired by the Oakland County Sheriff's Office in 1995 as a Deputy. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2011, Lieutenant in 2016 and to his current position of Captain in 2022. In his current role, he oversees the Sheriff's Training Unit, the Homeland Security Division, the Aviation and Drone Units, Recruiting, the Peer Support Team and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
Captain Hill has previously served as a Substation Commander for the contracted area of Independence Township (Patrol Services Division) and has worked in several other areas of the Sheriff's Office, including the Satellite/Court Services Division; Pontiac Division; Investigative and Forensic Services Division (as a Fugitive Unit and Auto Theft Detective); Uniformed Patrol in the Alcohol Enforcement, Crash Reconstruction and Motor Units; and the Corrective Services Division. Currently, he represents the Sheriff's Office on the Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center and the Department of Homeland Security.
Captain Hill has earned a Doctor of Education degree (Ed.D.) in Organizational Leadership (Oakland University), a Master's degree in Information Security (EMU) and a Bachelor's degree in Criminology (EMU). He is also a graduate of the Northwest Police Staff and Command School.
Captain Hill has received numerous awards, including Command Officer of the Year (2016), Meritorious Service Citations, Professional Excellence Citations and Distinguished Unit Citations.
Captain Hill is a United States Marine Corps Veteran, deployed to Saudi Arabia and Mogadishu, Somalia, in the 1990s.
With over 27 years in Law Enforcement and six years in private sector investigations, Captain Steve Schneider has a vast array of experience in several areas including: Weapons of Mass Destruction and Community Anti-Terrorism Training; Information Technology; Criminal and Civil Investigations; Corrections Management; Inmate Custody and Care; Business and Public Administration and Road Patrol Services. This expertise is the result of Captain Schneider's employment with two large private investigations companies and the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the 16th largest Sheriff's Office in the United States.
Captain Schneider joined the Sheriff's Office as a Deputy I in 1996. He was promoted to a Deputy II in 1997 (first as a Jail Supervisor and then as a Road Patrol Deputy), to Sergeant in 2004, to Lieutenant in 2014 and to his current position as Captain in 2022.
Captain Schneider has received numerous awards, including Command Officer of the Year (2020), Meritorious Service Citations, Professional Excellence Citations and Distinguished Unit Citations.
Captain Schneider is the Sheriff's Chief Technology Officer, supervising Information Technology and the Records Unit. He fervently advocates implementing state-of-the-art technology systems and programs, driving change at a rapid pace. Since 2014, he has initiated various cost control programs, including auditing and inventory control measures, yielding significant savings for the Sheriff's Office. In addition, Captain Schneider created a new IT protocol that has improved efficiency, minimized confusion, increased staff productivity and reduced Help Desk/Service Center calls an average of 22%. He is also responsible for reporting all crime statistics for the Sheriff's Office, including the accurate and timely forwarding of these statistics to the FBI NIBRS Uniform Crime Reporting Unit. Through various initiatives implemented by Captain Schneider, the OCSO has seen the integrity of its crime reporting steadily improve.
Captain Schneider received his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (WMU) in 1989 and his Master's degree in Public Administration (CMU) in 2001. He is an adjunct instructor and guest lecturer for both private and public higher educational institutions and has taught law enforcement personnel, as well as private sector individuals, in a variety of relevant subjects. He has attended many 'Train the Trainer' courses covering Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism Awareness and is a member of the Oakland County Incident Management Team (IMT). He has completed Federal Type IV Incident Management Team training, COBRA Live Chemical Agent training, Prevention and Response to Terrorist Bombing courses and Nuclear/Radiological training. Captain Schneider has taught Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism Awareness classes for the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice. He is Board-Certified in both Homeland Security (CHPP) and Security Management (CPP).
Captain Thomas Vida, Jr. is the Commander of the Corrective Services Division of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Captain Vida was hired by the Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy in 1999. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2008, Lieutenant in 2015, Executive Lieutenant in 2020 and to his current position of Captain in March of 2021. In his current role, he is responsible for overseeing the Main Jail / Annex facility.
Captain Vida has worked in Patrol Services where he was assigned to the Orion Township Substation as a road patrol and school liaison deputy. During his assignments in Corrections, he has worked and supervised all operational areas and served as the Commander of the Cell Extraction Team.
Captain Vida has a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a Concentration in Criminal Justice. Additionally, he attended the National Jail Leadership Command Academy and he is a Certified Jail Manager. Captain Vida has received many awards, including the Command Officer of the Year, Sheriff's Distinguished Service Citation, Sheriff's Distinguished Unit Citation and a Lifesaving Citation.
Captain Melissa McClellan is the Commander of the Corrective Services Satellite Division. She is responsible for overseeing the Court Services/Detention Unit and the Satellite Division/East Annex housing facility.
Captain McClellan was hired by the Sheriff's Office in September, 1989, and was promoted to Deputy in 1991. She was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004, Lieutenant in 2013 and Executive Lieutenant in 2016. She became Captain in September, 2020.
Captain McClellan is the first female to hold the rank of Captain in the history of the Oakland County Sheriff's Office. As Executive Lieutenant, she was the Jail Administrator for the 1664-bed jail facility, supervising inmate medical/mental health services, clinic operations, inmate classification, chaplaincy and faith-based services, the jail library and inmate programs. She has also held positions as Administrative Lieutenant and School Liaison/Detective. She has worked in various divisions of the Sheriff's Office, including Satellite/Court Services, Corrections and Uniformed Patrol.
Captain McClellan has served with the Behavioral Health Justice Collaboration, the Oakland County Steering Committee, the HIPAA Compliance Committee and as Sheriff Bouchard's designee on the Community Corrections Advisory Board. In 2020, she was elected to the Board of Directors for the American Jail Association.
Captain McClellan is a member of the National Sheriffs Association (NSA), Michigan Sheriffs Association (MSA), International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police (MACP), Oakland County Association of Chiefs of Police (OCACP), American Jail Association (AJA) and an inaugural member of the Oakland County Equity Council (OCEC).
Captain McClellan is a Certified Jail Manager and a published co-author in American Jail Magazine. She has received numerous commendations and awards, including 2003 Deputy of the Year (from the Waterford Optimists Club), Sheriff's Commendations, a Sheriff's Distinguished Unit Citation, Professional Excellence Commendations and the Sheriff's Distinguished Service Commendation.
Captain McClellan has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Project Management. She is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the Police Executives and New Chiefs School, the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the National Jail Leadership Command Academy.
Captain Jen Miles is Commander of the Emergency Communications and Operations Division. Captain Miles began her law enforcement career in 1999 as a Deputy with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, where she worked and trained in various units. She was promoted to Sergeant in 2011, Lieutenant in 2019 and Captain in 2022. In her current role as Captain, she is responsible for overseeing radio and 911 emergency communications within the Sheriff's Operations Center, manages the Warrants Unit (where criminal warrants are researched and entered into the Law Enforcement Information System) and is the Sheriff's Communications Representative with Oakland County's Homeland Security and Emergency Operations Center (EOC).
Captain Miles has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University and a Master's degree in Organizational Leadership from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota . She is also a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Staff and Command, the International Association of Chiefs of Police Women's Leadership Institute and is a 2020 fellow of the Michigan Political Leadership Program through Michigan State University.
Captain Miles developed the Sheriff's Office Women's Self-Defense Awareness Program, for which she currently serves as coordinator and teacher. She is trained in various self-defense methods, as well as firearms, active shooter response, suicide prevention, PTSD awareness and crisis intervention. Captain Miles has received many citations and awards throughout her career, including the Olivia Cleveland Gratitude Award and the 2014 Domestic Violence Prevention Award. She is also a member of many telecommunicator and law enforcement organizations.
Captain Bart Wilson is the Commander of Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Services Division. Captain Wilson began his career in law enforcement more than 30 years ago with the Grand Blanc City Police Department in Genesee County, serving as a Patrol Officer and a Narcotics Detective. During this time, he was assigned to a multi-jurisdictional narcotics unit and an FBI task force unit. Captain Wilson joined the Sheriff's Office in 1996. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2001, Lieutenant in 2014, and Captain in 2020.
Captain Wilson has previously served as the Commander of the Rochester Hills Substation, and has worked in Corrections, Road Patrol, the Detective Bureau and the Narcotics Enforcement Team. As a Lieutenant, he was first assigned to the Rochester Hills Substation as a Patrol Lieutenant and was then assigned to the IFS Division as the Lieutenant overseeing the Fugitive Apprehension Team, Computer Crimes Unit, Warrants Division and Special Investigations Unit.
Captain Wilson holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University and an Associate Degree from Mott Community College. Captain Wilson has received many awards, including Sheriff’s Distinguished Unit Citations, Meritorious Service Citations, Commendation Certificate, Unit Citations, Professional Excellence Citations and Commendation Citations. In 2018, he received the Command Officer of the Year Award.
Captain Russ Yeiser has been with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office for over twenty-two years and is currently the Commander of the Rochester Hills Substation. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the substation, as well as all aspects of policing in the City of Rochester Hills.
Captain Yeiser started his law enforcement career with the Oxford Police Department in 1997. He joined the Sheriff's Office in 2000, when Oxford Township began contracting with OCSO for law enforcement services. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2004, Lieutenant in 2013 and Captain in 2022.
Captain Yeiser has worked in many different areas within the Sheriff's Office, including Corrective Services, Patrol Services, Emergency Response and Preparedness, the Training Unit, the Rochester Hills Detective Bureau and 21 years on the SWAT team.
Captain Yeiser holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Rochester College and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University Police School of Staff and Command, the Force Science Institute (Advanced Specialist in the Behavioral Analysis of Force Encounters) and the FBI National Academy.
Throughout the years, Captain Yeiser has received many awards, including Sheriff's Distinguished Unit Citations, Meritorious Service, Unit Citations, Professional Excellence and Commendation Citations and Lifesaving.
Captain Yeiser is also a veteran of the United States Air Force/MI Air National Guard.
Captain Joseph Quisenberry oversees the Investigative and Forensic Services Division for the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. Captain Quisenberry was hired by the Sheriff’s Office in June of 1976. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1991, Lieutenant in 1996, and to his current position of Captain in 2013. In his current role, he is responsible for the operations of the Forensic Lab, Auto Theft Unit, Fugitive Apprehension Team, Computer Crimes Unit, Fire Investigations Unit, Narcotic Enforcement Team, Warrants Unit, and Special Investigations Unit.
Captain Quisenberry has been the Commander of the Sheriff’s Office Independence Substation, Rochester Hills Substation, and the Oakland County Narcotic Enforcement Team. He played a key role in the development of the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office DNA Laboratory and reorganization of the command structure for the Narcotic Enforcement Team.
He is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy and additionally, attended Western Michigan University, Oakland Community College, and Oakland University. Captain Quisenberry has been awarded many Distinguished Service awards during his career at the Sheriff’s Office.
Gaia V. Piir is the Fiscal Officer for the Sheriff's Office. Her duties include the oversight of accounting, budgeting, purchasing, and human resources for the entire agency. Ms. Piir has been with Oakland County since 1992.
Ms. Piir received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Business Management from Cleary College. She is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association (MGFOA) and the Leadership Oakland Alumni Association. She is a member of the GFOA Women’s Public Finance Network (WPFN) and has attended the GFOA Advanced Government Finance Institute. She is a Certified Credit Union Volunteer and currently serves as the Vice Chairperson on the Vibe Credit Union Board of Directors.
