Judge Maureen M. McGinnisJudge Maureen M. McGinnis is a graduate of Troy High School, the University of Colorado-Boulder, and Michigan State University-Detroit College of Law. While pursuing her degrees, she interned on a U.S. Senate campaign, with the Boulder District Attorney's Office and the United States Department of Justice, Criminal Division, in Washington, D.C.

In 2003, Judge McGinnis proudly joined her father at the Law Offices of Donald E. McGinnis, Jr., P.C., where she specialized in family and criminal law for over a decade.

Judge McGinnis has been active in national, state and local bar associations since being admitted to practice. She has been a member of the Oakland County Bar Association (OCBA) since 2003, serving on the Board of Directors for the organization since 2010. Prior to serving on the board of the OCBA, Judge McGinnis was an active member of the New Lawyers Committee and ultimately served as Chairperson of this committee. Judge McGinnis served as a Commissioner on the State Bar of Michigan Board of Commissioners from 2009 to 2018. During her tenure, she helped to create policy and programs that benefit all attorneys licensed to practice in the State of Michigan.

In November 2009, Judge McGinnis was elected to serve as a Troy City Council Member and served as Mayor Pro Tem during her term. She was elected to the bench as a 52-4 District Court Judge in 2014 and has served two terms as Presiding Judge of the Court since being elected. Judge McGinnis is a recent Chairperson of the Oakland County District Judges Association. She is also passionate about the Treatment Court she has presided over since June 2018 working closely with her colleague, Judge Kirsten Nielsen Hartig, and the court's Drug Therapy Court Coordinator to make the program a success and provide much needed support to those struggling with substance use disorders.

She has worked with many charitable and service-related organizations over the years, including Habitat for Humanity Oakland County, providing pro bono legal services through the Family Legal Assistance Project and mentoring at-risk youth through the Mentors Plus program run by Oakland County Youth Assistance. She has been a member and board member of the Women Official's Network and is a proud member of the Incorporated Society of Irish American Lawyers (ISIAL).

Judge Maureen McGinnis currently resides in Troy with her husband, Kevin, and two children.
