A Register Hearing is conducted by the Probate Register on uncontested matters that do not require judicial determination. For example, a petition to allow an account in which no fees are requested would be heard at a Register Hearing.

Register Hearings are held for judicial efficiency. The chief probate judge gives the register authority to hear certain routine uncontested matters so that the courtroom dockets are less congested to accommodate the complex or contested probate matters.

Register Hearings are held in the office of the Probate Register on motion day, starting at 9am (see the County Holiday Schedule for office closings).

Generally, the petitioner or attorney for the petitioner will do service.

You must serve notice by publication indicating whereabouts unknown. You will need to fill out a publication form for the Oakland County Legal News and present it with the appropriate fee to the probate counter staff.
