Public appointment opportunities available on two Oakland County boards

October 24, 2023, OAKLAND COUNTY, MI. – The Oakland County Board of Commissioners is seeking applications for individuals to serve on two different boards due to term expirations at the end of this year.  

The Oakland County Building Authority finances the construction of local projects through the issuance of limited tax general obligation bonds. The Building Authority may also build, acquire, furnish, equip, own, improve, enlarge, lease, operate and maintain county facilities where a legitimate public purpose of the county is served. The Authority consists of five members and a vacancy for one general public appointee is expected. Members serve three-year terms and receive a $90 per diem as well as mileage reimbursement. 

The Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission’s purpose is to preserve park land and create recreational, leisure and learning experiences for county residents. The Commission consists of ten members, and the commission is expecting vacancies for two citizen members. Commission members must be Oakland County residents and at least 18 years of age. Members are appointed to serve three-year terms and receive a $90 per diem, as well as mileage reimbursement. The Commission typically meets the first Wednesday of every month at 2:00 p.m.
